The problem with socks is that when two go into the washing machine, sometimes, very mysteriously, only one comes out.
I don't feel that we
have much control over socks.
They are a law unto themselves.
They are a law unto themselves.
Gloves on the other hand are easier to understand because
over thousands of years they have become domesticated.
In fact if they are lost, chances are you'll get home and know exactly
where you left them.
Unfortunately it is usually a place to which you can't easily or quickly return.
And because gloves have no morals, getting them back the next
day is a lost cause.
They will go home with any stranger who picks them up.
In the above picture you can see Flynn standing guard over my
new winter gloves.
I wore them outside this morning.
It is 5 p.m. and
I still have them!!
What a great start to the season!

And what nice gloves they are, the wantons!
Have fun tomorrow at the Queenston Heights re-enactment. Wear your gloves in case it's chilly!
Flynn is doing a great job guarding those gloves. Perhaps a doggie treat is in order. And you are right about socks disappearing. There is a black hole in the washing machine. I'm sure of it.
Haha.. I know what you mean! Though I do feel gloves sometimes do behave the same way. I think they go to that place peas go when they fall off the dinner table -- you know how you can never find them afterward.
Conspiracy theorists claim a revolt is about to start. According tot hem, socks have been fleeing washing machines and drying lines around the world for decades and assembling. We better watch out ;-)
I have a very nice collection of single socks, many more than I need for waxing the car and and similar chores, and it seems such a waste to pitch them out.
So, I've decided to just pair them up as I see fit. I feel empowered!
Yay!! I am happy to say that I have held on to the same pair of gloves for 4 years now...it's like some kind of miracle!!
